Nichole Gouldie, communications specialist for MKC, was recently selected as one of 10 members of the 2015 Tomorrow’s Agribusiness Leaders (TAL) Program. This leadership development program, jointly coordinated by the Kansas Grand and Feed Association (KGFA) and Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association (KARA), is an intensive leadership program designed to teach participants about the state and federal legislative and regulatory process and how to be a better leader within the agricultural industry.
In her first session in January, Nichole joined class members in Topeka where they learned about the roles and history of KGFA and KARA. In addition, the class received staff briefings on the legislative process and received training on effective lobbying methods.
The class will travel to Washington D.C. in July. During this session they will gain experience and make contacts that will allow them to grow professionally. During their time in D.C., participants will make personal visits to Kansas Congressional Delegation on Capitol Hill and visit the headquarters for the National Agribusiness Association. The class will reconvene in September to work towards becoming an informed and confident agribusiness leader. The class graduation will be held in conjunction with the Kansas Agribusiness Expo in November.
MKC and TMA employees who are TAL alumni include James Bettenbrock, Doug Biswell, Erik Lange, Doug Wright, Kerry Watson, Kyle Adams, Devin Schierling, Ted Schultz and Matt Friesen.
