Foremost Farms Accepts ‘Patriot Award’ for Supporting Military Service

(BARABOO, WI) Foremost Farms USA received the “Patriot Award” Feb. 16 for supporting the military service of an employee. Brian Caspary, senior director of supply chain at Baraboo, accepted the award for supporting John Langeberg, automation controls manager, during 2014.

In July of 2014, Langeberg was offered a position as Company Commander for HHC, 1-147th Assault Battalion. Before taking the position, he discussed it with Caspary who was supportive even though it meant time away from work.

This is not the first time Foremost Farms has received the Patriot Award and Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve. The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented a similar award back in 2013 recognizing the cooperative’s support for employees who serve in the military.

Retired Brigadier General Kerry Denson, a 40 year veteran of the military and founding member of the 147th, presented the award to Caspary and Foremost Farms on Monday, Feb. 16.

“It is so important that employers and families support a soldier’s military service,” said Denson. Without that support, we generally lose a valuable citizen soldier whose experience is very hard to replace. People like John volunteer to be a part of the defense of this country and put themselves in harm’s way if needed.”

Langeberg is an 18-year veteran of the military, a Blackhawk Helicopter pilot, and has served multiple tours of duty on foreign soil.

Caspary added, “Foremost Farms has a strong tradition of supporting our employees, like John, who proudly serve our country. It is an added bonus as an organization, to be recognized for that support.”
